There is one really easy thing I would like to ask you to do that will help tremendously in your own recovery of health and that is to keep a really simple daily log.
The reason is that you can gain a wealth of information about yourself, your triggers and treatments by doing this one simple step. You will be much better able to tell what things help your condition and what factors cause adverse reactions. You will be surprised how trying to figure things out just from memory can result in not getting it quite right and forgetting important details.
I will make this as simple as possible, but you will need to make a conscious effort to do this daily. I do mine in the morning when I am having my morning cup of coffee.
What worked best for me was a small notebook next to my bed that I filled out each night. I made a little list (like the one below) of the important points to think about and note down and put it on the inside front cover so I could refer to the list each time.
Sleep – quality and quantity
Meds – any changes in medications or supplements
Diet changes (note any major changes)
Triggers – sugar, alcohol, travel, etc.
Exercise – what and how much
Pain levels that day
Fatigue levels that day
Anything else of note
…..
You can either keep a simple record in a notepad or you can download and use an application to keep track of these details. Apps such as “FibroMapp” or “Chronic Pain Tracker” can be used if this is easier for you. It takes just a couple minutes and is well worth the effort. Later you can review these and get a lot of good information such as supplements that helped, diets you did better on, triggers you weren’t aware of, etc. Try it for a few weeks at least and I think you will be surprised at the insight it gives.
You might not think you need this, but please believe me, it will help and is a very important to successful Fibromyalgia treatment.
